I used facts about my character and what she was going through, by changing of characters moods. My characters story was was complicated by others because she thought that her killing herself and her kids was being a good parent but other people have stories that make that one untrue. http://www.powtoon.com/presentoons/eE7DE05RiUv/edit/#/Export

Who are You

Through out my life I have been asked wether or not I am Chinese, Japanese, Korean, ect... I don't take offense because I know that most asians like myself tend to look familiar to one another. I usually respond politely saying "I am a mix of German and Japanese".

From personal experience, here in America we identify anyone who is not completely white as not white. We think that if even someone is a tiny bit of another race, even though they are mostly white, they are not white. I think Rachel is forced to pick a side and it's hard. The kids of color don't like her, and nether do the white kids.

The Color of Beauty

Russell and Renne are both models that have been effected by what society claims a beauty. However Russell who is white never had to personally experience racial discrimination because she is white, where as Renne who is African American had first hand experience with this. Russell, when she is doing her job, that is not her. That is a professionally altered model, with makeup, professional hair dressers, ect... She does not get to be herself. Renne also is affected by this because she also has to put on makeup and, have professionals do her hair to meet societies standards of beauty.

Pre-writing "Beauty"

In our society today beauty is defined as "not too wide, not too thin, not too tall, and not too short." People will judge others on their appearance no matter what their looks. The way the author is describing beauty is that we should appear in a proper manner, but at the same time let a person be who they are.

1-Independent, strong, motivated.
2- That she did not let society dictate how she lead her life, and she was who she was off camera.
3- People tend to think that looks determine your social standing but if you did not care what other people you would be a-lot happier.

She wants other people of color to accept who they are by not letting societies image of beauty to stop them from being who they are.

How is beauty defined?
A:In the fashion industry its the color of your skin.
What do you notice about the gatekeepers to the fashion industry
A:They want white models
how does Renne describe herself, would you say she has a positive self-image
A:She is constantly battling racism.
how does beauty connect to identity in this video
A: How people think that just because you are black you cant do certain things
what is the bottom line for advtetizers.

Ferguson

1) The most powerful article I read today was an article written by "German Lopez" titled "11 Things you should know about the Michael Brown Shooting". The article basically stated that on August 9th 2014, Michael Brown was visiting his grandmother unarmed and was stopped by police for jaywalking, and soon there after, he was fatally shot. Police say Brown was involved in a store robbery prior to the shooting. However the Police officers who shot Brown "were unaware of the robbery" (Lopez, 2014) when they shot him. I found this article to be the most powerful because it makes a statement on our racial standpoint as a nation, Lopez calls this "Deep-rooted disparities in local Government and law enforcement". This compares to the Children's March because the police are unjustly disciplining citizens. The Children's March differs in that deadly force was not used in Birmingham, as it was used in Missouri.

2) This source was a mixture of Fact and opinion. What I mean by that is, the Authors opinions in the article were based off of proven facts. I know this because the Author is asking questions that cannot be answered with a fact, but it can be supported by a fact. I would rate this source as a 3 because the Author did have fact based arguments, but they were opinionated.

Passion Project Reflections

"Many have often criticized the Presidents executive decision to order airstrikes on Iraq, such as Arizona senator John McCain. According to McCain the airstrikes on Iraq are “clearly very, very ineffective, to say the least”. (McCain, 2014) However, Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari had this to say,  Air strikes are intended to degrade the terrorists' capabilities and achieve strategic gains — and have been very effective,”(Hoshyar, 2014) Also other countries have been the opposite of critical, they have been supportive and an active participant in the effort. “British forces are coordinating aid drops with the U.S. and more broadly, trying to figure out how to help the refugees escape from "’a completely unacceptable situation,"’ British Defense Secretary Philip Hammond said”. (Salama, 2014) According to the information above, the airstrikes are proven to be effective at eliminating the threat and the in doing so they will help us reach our goal to win the war on terror by shrinking ISIS."

1) I selected this paragraph because I feel that this really proves the point that I am trying to make in that I had opinions from two different sides of the issue, good quotes, and a good reasoning.
2) My biggest concern is that I wont be able to make this into a 10 page essay.
